About The Author

Zach Battat is currently completing his PhD in Middle Eastern & African History at the Zvi Yavetz School of Historical Studies at Tel Aviv University. He is a Junior Editor for Global Brief, a top-tier international affairs magazine with a heavy global readership. The topic of his dissertation is on Former Lebanese President, Fuad Shihab (1958-1964).

His main research interests include: Lebanon, Syria, the Levant, the geopolitics of the Middle East, sectarianism, and the foreign relations of the international community towards the Middle East. You can follow Zach on Facebook, LinkedIn, and Twitter. While he is far from home, he diligently keeps a close eye on the Montreal Canadiens as they try to add to their Stanley Cup banners.

Zach also holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Concordia University and a Master of Arts in Middle Eastern & African History at Tel Aviv University.
